Custom Work Out Bars

CA$550.00

These eye catching parallettes are individually handcrafted as ordered. Made with the most premium grade of sustainably sourced speciality woods and hand mixed pigmented resin. these slow fashion calisthenics parallettes will light up your living space as a beautiful piece of art when you’re not crushing your skills in the park.

Size of end blocks:  8” Wide x 6” Tall
Length of bar: 13”

1.25” Diameter round bar
4.25” From the ground to the underside of the bar, 5.5” From the ground to the top of the bar.

We work with urban milling small businesses who rescue trees that have fallen due to natural circumstances or need to be removed when deemed unsafe for urban areas due to rotting and potential of falling. On the rare tree there can be burls which look like a ball on the side of he tree but when opened up present the most outstanding figure in grain, and particularly the spikey live edges that is revealed underneath the bark. These burls take extra care to mill and dry and remove the bark. That fact, paired with the rarity of them makes them the Rolls-Royce of the woodworking world – ‘if you will’. And evidently are in the premium category of live edge woods and rank top on the material costs.

After I debark the burl and cut and mill the pieces to size, I prepare for the resin integration process: I make a watertight form and place the burl pieces inside. Then I mix the Resin which comes in two parts liquid that I mix, and it becomes a clear liquid with the viscosity of water. At this point I add in the perfect number of pigments and coloring dye to achieve the right transparency so that we can see those mesmerizing burl spikes and live edges of the burls. And now its ready to be poured into the mold. After 48hrs the resin will be rock solid, adhered to the burl wood  and ready to be popped out of the mold.

Shaping and sanding: I then cut the blocks of burl and resin to the size and shape of our design, router the edges and sand every surface, starting at 80 grits, 120, 150, 180, 220, 400, 800, 1000, and finish at 2000 giving a glass like feel and look to the resin and a lustrous clarity in the wood grain.

Finishing: I finish the wood with Odies oil and wood butter, then polish the resin. after 24 hrs I put a protection coat of graphene ceramic coating which is the highest protective finish, one below diamond on the hardness scale, making our parallettes water, UV, and scratch resistant.

The entire process takes 6 days.

These are certainly not your everyday pair of workout bars. but when you’ve got skills to show-off, your everyday parallettes just don’t cut it. You need the gear to match those honed skills.
